Welcome to DixieLand Swissys.. A place where we can show off our dogs and teach you about this wonderful breed. To protect and pass on the joy that is.... The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog!

On this site we will have information about the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. Their history, health, training and care. What to look for in a puppy. What to look for in a breeder. We will ask you questions. Is a GSMD right for you? What type of puppy is best for you?

We are proudly good members in standing with our national club The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America and Southbound Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club, and Gulf Coast Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club, our regional club. We fully believe in and strictly adhere to The greater swiss mountain dog breeder guidelines as set forth by our national club.

OUR BREEDING PHILOSOPHY

What is important to us as a breeder of swissys? The most important consideration to us in our search of making the perfect Swissy is temperament. No matter if this puppy is going to a show home or a pet home, you have to start with a sound temperament. The health of the dog is another very important factor. Once you have temperament and health, you strive to reach the standard of our breed. A dog that can maintain the job it was originally bred for. The whole purpose of breeding is to make a better dog, not to just make more dogs. No matter what you do with your dog, it should always be your pet first.

Below is another great site.

The GreaterSwiss.Com website is a collaboration of individuals who are advocates for the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog breed.

Regional clubs are very important to people thinking about getting a swissy. If you have never met a swissy, your regional club is a great way to meet people who already own swissys. Your regional club will have get togethers, clinics for various swissy activities such as carting, drafting, obedience. You do not have to show your swissy, or be interested in any of the activities. Your regional club will still offer you access to local swissy owners, most of who will be happy to help if you ever need help with anything. Membership is normally around 20.00 for non swissy owners and 20.00 - 40.00 for a swissy family membership.

Clicking on the link below will take you to our national club website which lists most of the regional clubs. If you have a problem locating your regional club, just write me and I will send you the information that you need.
